Data Collection manager

Someone once said that “a person’s eyes are a gateway to their soul”. At Tobii we say that “pictures of eyes and faces are a key to Tobii’s future success!” 

This is not perhaps as poetic as the first saying but very true none the less!

So why do we begin this ad with such semi-poetic drivel do you ask? Because, Tobii Tech is now in need of a Manager for our Data Collection Team, a vital key for the development of our products and since you’re still reading, we at least caught you attention! 🙂    

Tobii is as you probably already know the world leader when it comes to eye tracking and we owe much of that success to having lots and lots of quality data, in our case this means pictures of faces and eyes. 

As many other companies within the computer vision industry, we move more and more towards machine learning which rapidly increases our demands for data quantity and quality.

We see that having the right strategy and approach to data collection will be extreme key to us going forward and to be able to keep developing our products and further expanding our work in this area we are now hiring a person to manage our data collection team and strategy!

The role and responsibilities

As Data Manager you will be a supportive leader to the team responsible for securing high quality data to enable our R&D-teams to keep producing the best eye tracking products possible!

In this role, you will  report to the VP R&D Platform and will make sure that your team is rightly staffed, that they collect data in the most efficient way possible as well as making strategies to allow us to scale the data supply in line with growing need. 

Your days will be filled with

  • Supporting the team of operators that run collection and annotation of data.
  • Setting up processes for manual data collection and annotation, making sure we have good collaboration with other teams 
  • Set and execute on long term strategies 
  • Participating in projects, especially with our Machine Learning and QA-teams
  • Setting the right requirements to make sure your team has the best data collection tools possible
  • Acting as a speaking partner in all data collection related matters within Tobii Tech 

We are looking for

You have

  • Proven experience in leading either projects or teams preferably in a delivery organization 
  • A process-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous improvements 
  • Agenuine curiosity for technology and software development 

We find it to be a strong merit if you also have experience in handling external partners and suppliers.
