AAC Learning Consultant

We give people a voice. We help people with various disabilities “speak” with their hands and their eyes, interact and communicate with technology, in completely new and often game changing ways. Every day we help people with disabilities ranging from ALS and Cerebral Palsy to Spinal Cord Injury and Stroke.

The AAC Learning Consultant will be focused on generating awareness and educating the North American market on implementation strategies for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Assistive Technology (AT), and Tobii Dynavox’s portfolio of products. This role will support Tobii Dynavox in creating and maintaining market interest, customer loyalty, and sales revenue. The AAC Learning Consultant will facilitate and support creation of insightful and engaging trainings through varied delivery methods. The ability to combine effective facilitation skills, knowledge of our customer needs, and support for the North American Sales organization are critical to the success of the AAC Learning Consultant.

The role and responsibilities

Your days will be filled with:

  • Supporting team functions

    • Demonstrating strong presentation and facilitation skills to drive meaningful and engaging learning experiences

    • Submitting proposals for local, national, and international conferences and large events.

    • Attending events to deliver presentations.

    • Supporting North American Sales in training customers in various regions

    • Supporting creation of engaging trainings and programs for customers to increase knowledge, develop skills and abilities, and successfully support the use of Tobii Dynavox products and AAC/AT

    • Demonstrating attention to detail in reporting and ASHE CE Provider compliance tasks

  • Support the business

    • Exemplifying the desired team culture and values of the organization

    • Supporting Tobii Dynavox customers and business with clinical and educational research and insights. This assumes the abilities to:

      • Effectively communicating in detail about the application of language, communication, and literacy to a broad range of individuals and professionals to support children and adults with complex communication and related needs

      • Demonstrating a strong understanding of accessibility and access methods in clinical and non-clinical settings

      • Applying current knowledge of research and best practices in AAC, AT, and related fields to enhance and evolve training content

      • Citing case studies relating to how various organizations and professionals select AAC or similar access devices and software

      • Articulating the challenges facing a clinician in providing low- to high-tech AAC from initial contact through to implementation

      • Acting as a spokesperson for the company on clinical and educational subjects

    • Promoting and supporting Tobii Dynavox products. This assumes:

      • Demonstrating competency for the entire Tobii Dynavox product portfolio which includes eye gaze technology, devices and hardware, software (including Boardmaker), and accessories and peripherals

      • Demonstrating knowledge of each product’s value to customers, product application and utilization, product implementation, and user setup/configuration

      • Demonstrating knowledge as to how specific devices/software in the Tobii Dynavox product families may be better suited to specific primary diagnoses or communication competencies

      • The ability to act as a subject matter expert to support product and development plans, learning development, product launches/updates, and ongoing needs related to product and other trainings

  • Other duties as assigned

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field

  • Current licensure / ASHA CCC preferred

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in AAC or related field

  • Experience in a training role such as a trainer, instructional designer, or technical writer

  • Adjusting training deliveries based on the learners’ needs while maintaining appropriate structure and compliance for continuing education credits

  • Facilitating a positive learning environment in which learners feel comfortable asking questions and meeting their needs

  • Providing a high level of customer service and support to key customers and learning initiatives

  • Demonstrating strong organization skills while approaching learning programs and training events


  • MS Office and 365 - PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote, Teams, Outlook; ability to effectively use Windows OS

  • Familiar with popular social media sites and applications such as Facebook and Instagram

  • Zoom

  • Favro / internal project management tool

  • Experience with Tobii Dynavox and/or Boardmaker products


  • Taking ownership and accountability of all assignments and work; takes initiative and doesn’t consistently wait for direction

  • Quickly comprehending and demonstrating mastery of new material and subject matter

  • Excellent organization and time management skills; detail oriented

  • Compliance with all industry, business, and team policies, processes, and guidelines

  • Willing and able to travel extensively across US and/or Canada approximately 50%
  • Some international travel may be required; valid passport required
