Tobii is the world leader in eye tracking – a computer vision and machine learning based technology that enables a computing device to tell exactly where a person is looking. Eye tracking is used in a broad range of applications including market research and eye-controlled computer interfaces. Headquartered in Stockholm, Tobii covers the global market with offices in the USA, China, Japan, the UK, and South Korea.
We believe in diversity and equal opportunity. At Tobii we want you to be yourself and we welcome applicants from all walks of life. It’s all about passion, innovation and making things real. Each day is different here at Tobii, hopefully, this is something that motivates you! We want you to be comfortable at work so come in wearing high heels or flip flops as long as you feel that's who you want to be. We're looking for a good personal fit and believe that diversity is the spice of life!
Master Thesis – Map of the world
Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) enable the recreation of a 3D map based on simple sensors; fairly good results can be achieved with a single moving camera. There are a variety of SLAM algorithms available today, and some have gained wide adoption. Adapting these SLAM algorithms to cheaper sensors is an active area of research and will be one possible focus of your thesis. Aggregating multiple 3D maps in a simple room with few objects works well today, but with a more complex environment and where both the map and sensors induce drift is still a challenge. There are many more features and applications of SLAM that have interesting potential, and together we will define a project that will both suit your interest and knowledge and contribute to the research community.
You will be part of a team of algorithm developers at Tobii working with Tobii Glasses. The Tobii Glasses are see-through glasses with integrated eye tracking and a wide field-of-view scene camera. You will base your research on the scene camera imagery together with the integrated inertial measurement unit, IMU. Our group of engineers will help to get you sorted on the data and read out the measurements you need. You will need to be proactive and become the expert in your field – we will gladly listen and discuss any high-level ideas with you. We are open to extending this position to two master thesis works if you prefer to overcome practical hurdles and technical roadblocks along the way together.
We believe you:
- Are currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering Physics or a related technical field
- Feel confident programming in C++ and Python
- Have experience working in Unix/Linux environment
- Have an interest in computer vision and the math involved
We are curious to know who you are and why you want to do your Master thesis with us. Submit your application through our website including - CV or LinkedIn profile - Cover letter - Transcripts.
Location is Tobii's HQ in Stockholm
