Learning Consultant – Team Boardmaker

Every day we help people with disabilities ranging from ALS and Cerebral Palsy to Spinal Cord Injury and Stroke.

The Learning Consultant – Team Boardmaker will be focused on generating awareness and educating the North American market on implementation strategies for special education, communication, access, assistive technology (AT), and the Tobii Dynavox & Boardmaker portfolio of products. This role will support our organization in creating and maintaining market interest, customer loyalty, and sales revenue. This role will support creation of, facilitate, and deliver insightful and engaging trainings through varied delivery methods. The ability to combine effective facilitation skills, knowledge of our customer needs, and support for the North American Sales organization are critical to the success of the Learning Consultant – Team Boardmaker.

The role and responsibilities

Your days will be filled with:

  • Support team functions
    • Demonstrating strong presentation and facilitation skills to drive meaningful and engaging learning experiences
    • Submitting proposals for local, national, and international conferences and large events; attend events to deliver presentations
    • Supporting Sales in training customers in various North American locations
    • Supporting creation of engaging trainings and programs for customers to increase knowledge, develop skills and abilities, and successfully support the use of Boardmaker products and the array of complimentary solutions in our education portfolio
    • Demonstrating attention to detail in reporting and ASHE CE Provider compliance tasks
  • Support the business
    • Exemplifying the Tobii Dynavox culture and values
    • Supporting internal & external Boardmaker customers and our business with clinical and educational research and insights. This assumes the abilities to:
      • Effectively communicating in detail about the application of language, communication, literacy, and education to a broad range of individuals and professionals to support user needs
      • Applying current knowledge of research and best practices in special education, communication, AT, and related fields to enhance and evolve training content
      • Citing case studies relating to how various organizations and professionals select low-tech to high-tech classroom solutions
      • Articulating the challenges facing educators and clinicians in providing low- to high-tech AAC from initial contact through to implementation
      • Acting as a spokesperson for the company on clinical and educational subjects
    • Promoting and supporting our Boardmaker family of products as well as other Tobii Dynavox products. This assumes:
      • Demonstrating competency for the Boardmaker product portfolio
      • Demonstrating knowledge of products’ value to various customers, product application and utilization, product implementation, and user setup/configuration
      • Basic level of proficiency with other Tobii Dynavox AAC hardware, software, and 3rd party products
      • Demonstrating knowledge as to how specific Boardmaker solutions may be better suited to specific user or organizational needs and competencies
      • The ability to act as a subject matter expert to support product and development plans as well as support launches and ongoing needs of our Education products
  • Other duties as assigned

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience with our Education (Boardmaker) family of products
  • Experience in Assistive Technology (AT)
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or Speech-Language Pathology preferred
  • Experience in a training role such as a trainer, instructional designer, or technical writer

  • Demonstrate strong organization skills while approaching learning projects and training events
  • Confidently deliver engaging, learner-centric trainings for internal and external customers
  • Align with adult learning principles and relevant research in the field of training and development
  • Adjust training deliveries based on the learners’ needs while maintaining appropriate structure and compliance for continuing education credits
  • Facilitate a positive learning environment in which learners feel comfortable asking questions and meeting their needs
  • Demonstrate advanced virtual facilitation skills
  • Provide a high level of customer service and support to key customers and learning initiatives

COMPUTER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • MS Office and 365 - PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote, Teams, Outlook
  • Ability to effectively use Windows and Apple computers and devices
  • Familiar with leveraging popular social media sites/apps to support training needs
  • Zoom and Favro a plus
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS) a plus
  • Camtasia or other video editing software a plus

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Takes ownership and accountability of all assignments and work; takes initiative and doesn’t consistently wait for direction
  • Quickly comprehend and demonstrate mastery of new material and subject matter
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; detail oriented
  • Compliance with all industry, business, and team policies, processes, and guidelines
  • Willing and able to travel extensively across US and/or Canada approximately 50%
  • Some international travel may be required; valid passport required
