QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for performing manual testing of new products developed by the R&D Communication Software and Devices team to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer needs. Software testing is conducted in a cross-platform environment on Windows PCs and tablets, iOS tablets, and Tobii Dynavox speech-generating devices and accessories.

Your days will be filled with

  • Testing complex communication software and related applications on OEM Windows and iOS devices, and non-OEM devices in a variety of touch-based, switch, and eye gaze access methods
  • Finding and documenting issues that do not meet product requirements in a bug tracking system
  • Creating test plans, test data, and test cases for new software, features, and hardware; update existing test plans, cases and data
  • Executing test plans and maintain test results in a test management tool
  • Tracking deficiencies and re-test products after quality fixes have been applied
  • Collaborating with cross-functional project teams to organize and help identify requirements for features for future releases and to ensure that products function properly and meet the needs of our customers
  • Performing various other quality assurance tasks, across products and platforms, as assigned

We are looking for someone who has

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, QA or engineering equivalent -- OR -- 4+ yrs experience in SDLC process with a focus on test planning, test execution and defect management
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Software QA/Test role

Skills needed to be successful in this position:

  • Experience creating test plans and cases and testing cross-platform applications
  • Experience in manual testing including, but not limited to, exploratory, integration and functional
  • Thorough understanding of Software QA methodology, techniques, tools, and the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • ISTQB certification or another comparable QA/Test Engineering certification is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive experience documenting, searching and validating issues in bug tracking software
  • Windows 10, 8, and 7, and Microsoft Office Suite; iOS 10, 11, 12
  • Experience with Jira, TestRail, and Agile software development methodology is a plus
  • Experience with Team City, TestRail, Real Time Board and automated testing tools a plus
  • Experience testing in an agile environment is a plus
  • Understanding of Development Software such as Visual Studio, C# and Python is a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and other members of an organization, as well as independently on project tasks
