Tobii, the world leader in eye-tracking technology, is looking for a Senior System Engineer or Architect to join our Automotive department. We need someone who will be a crucial part of developing Tobii Driver Monitoring System (Tobii DMS) - a powerful solution for identifying drivers and assessing their attention. 

As System Engineer in our Automotive department, you will work on innovative solutions to make driving safer. 

Tobii DMS is based on 20 years of innovation in eye tracking. It translates camera images into a stream of core driver-state signals such as a person’s gaze point, how open their eyes are, and their head pose. These signals help save lives by delivering real-time feedback on driver state, such as drowsiness and distraction. 

As a System Engineer (or Architect) at Tobii, you will work directly with customers and stakeholders, alongside our product teams, to create innovative solutions that will make driving safer. You'll have the opportunity to influence the future of human-machine interaction and ensure that everything we develop is well-functioning, optimized, and of the highest quality. Your work will bridge the gap between product management and engineering teams, gathering requirements and investigating the feasibility of different solutions to create a product that fulfills customer expectations. 

Role and Responsibilities 

You will work closely with the Automotive teams, making sure everyone has the same view on system design, architecture, and requirements.  

We are looking for someone that has a sharp mind and a curious, flexible, and communicative mindset. The system role requires many aspects of informal leadership. Self-direction, combined with good leadership and people skills are key success factors in this role. You will be presenting to audiences with varying technical backgrounds and need to tailor your presentation accordingly. At Tobii, we are all about working together to bring our customers the best products possible - so you need to be keen to teach as well as to learn from your colleagues. 

Your days will be filled with: 

• Finding solutions that balance technical feasibility and customer needs 
• Specify and refine system requirements at different levels 
• Communicate - and facilitate the emergence of - an aligned technical vision 
• Coordinating the team effort, e.g. helping to plan the agile work and set sprint goals 
• Be an active participant in project planning and attend customer meetings 
• Identifying needs and dependencies between different teams or competence groups 

To succeed in this position, we believe that you have: 

• An M.Sc. in Physics, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or equivalent  
• Extensive experience in system design, requirements gathering, and technical leadership 
• Experience in product development in the automotive sector 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language 
• Ability to tailor the presentation of material to fit audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
