The Director of North American Learning serves as the leader of this team and is responsible for all facets of the team’s impact and how Tobii Dynavox successfully leverages training to support our customers, our business, and growing our industry.

This role manages a combination of managers and individual contributors who support the mission of the team.

Our Pittsburgh, PA office is located just minutes from “Dahntahn” Pittsburgh and here you will be working with more than 200 happy Tobiians in the most dynamic and friendly environment in all of Pennsylvania. We have everything from design, development, production, and customer service and support right here on site so whatever question you have, you will find the answer in house!

Your days will be filled with:

  • Direct overall North American Learning priorities, projects, programs, and productivity with input from stakeholders and customers
  • Evolve the role of Learning in the company while aligning with strategic business objectives
  • Simplify, streamline, and scale North American Learning team operations while maintaining a customer focus
  • Support the team in training thousands of professionals via varied delivery methods each year
  • Support team members responsible for expanding and maintaining compliance for our ASHA CEU program
  • Manage all facets of training deliveries including scheduling, evaluations, and ROI
  • Manage all facets of internal Sales team trainings including the onboarding program, continuing education, sales director trainings, and supporting the mentorship program
  • Ensure the work and direction of the Learning Design team aligns with the Learning Delivery and Internal Training teams’ work and direction
  • Benchmark and grow role-based competencies within the Learning team to evolve effectiveness and impact of the team; coach and mentor team members when appropriate
  • Direct the strategy and expanded implementation of external learning management system (LMS) and provide guidance and feedback for the future implementation of our internal LMS
  • Fully develop the strategy around “training as selling” and communicate it broadly across the organization to promote understanding and alignment
  • Support the Learning Design team in developing certification programs and aiding in the implementation of programs for internal and external learning audiences
  • Develop a paid training strategy to monetize training as a service in North America and offset cost of business
  • Promote collaboration and sharing of best practices globally and interdepartmentally

To be successful in this role and at Tobii you need to be driven toward organizational improvement.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years of experience in training leadership roles with project work in multiple modalities of training delivery
  • 5+ years of experience in training project management, training program management, learning systems and technology administration management, and performance improvement initiatives
  • 5+ years of experience in Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) and/or Assistive Technology (AT) roles, desirable
  • 3+ years of experience with performance and business interventions with scopes that span beyond training needs alone
  • 2-3+ years of experience leading departments
  • 3+ years of experience collaborating with sales organizations in a leadership role
  • Able to work beyond typical hours of business when needed to support the team, business, and customers
  • Able to travel domestically and at times, globally, based on the business needs; holds valid passport
  • Based in Pittsburgh, PA
  • Able to spend 25%+ of time in the field engaging with Learning and Sales team members and customers to gather input and feedback

  • Proven ability to go beyond training to create and implement performance- and results-based interventions
  • Exhibits influence without authority globally and by sharing data and insights across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrates analytical skills to derive insights from data and make strategic and tactical plans for the team; communicate these throughout all levels of the organization effectively
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills and ability to tackle multiple tasks while managing time effectively in a face-paced, evolving environment
  • Possesses strong understanding of – or ability to quickly learn – our industry and business
  • Demonstrates understanding of adult learning and modern training principles and approaches including needs analyses that tie to customer and/or business results, creation, delivery, evaluation, learning technologies
  • Proven technology savviness with the ability to quickly learn and master new technologies as well as apply available technologies to support processes and policies; demonstrated abilities using Microsoft 365 as well as project management and dashboard reporting tools
  • Demonstrated self-starter, self-accountable, and able to work independently with minimal supports while maintaining a collaborative approach to implementing new ideas
  • Exhibits ability to comprehend and apply new material and subject matter quickly
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility
  • Proven success managing remote teams and projects
