Summer jobs in the Algorithm team at Tobii

Scroll to content

Tobii is looking for students that are interested in programming, computer vision and machine learning and wish to explore and help improve eye tracking technology. You will validate state of the art research, come up with new and exciting hypotheses and test them. Above all, your work will impact the way we experience computer interaction, making virtual reality more real and giving people with disability a voice.

Available summer jobs

Detecting lack of attention when collecting eye tracking data

Eye-tracking performance is typically measured by rendering points on a screen at a known position and calculating the gaze accuracy and precision given the ground truth. During data collection we assume that the user focuses on the point on the screen; however this is not always the case. None of our current methods can automatically identify all cases of lack of attention and some manual work is still needed. The goal of this project is to analyze existing data and propose/evaluate new methods for detecting lack of attention.

Automatic C++ code style checking

This summer job will be done in close collaboration with the code architecture group in the algorithm team. Tasks could include developing clang format rules, harmonizing between C, C++98 and C++14 coding styles and adding checkers in GitHub. If you aspire to become a professional C++ developer, this summer job is for you.

User distraction/attention detection

One important use-case of eye tracking is to monitor users and detect distraction/attention. The goal of this summer job is to build knowledge and experience in this use-case. Tasks could include literature review, implementation and test of one or more methods, data collection and quantitative performance evaluation.

You will be part of the Algorithm team that works with the core eye tracking technology. The Algorithm team consists of people with backgrounds within math, Computer Science, software engineering and Applied Physics.

We believe that you have a strong background in statistics, computer vision and/or machine learning. Programming experience in C++ and Python is a big plus. Furthermore, we think you're passionate about algorithms, enjoy learning together with others, exploring new techniques and sharing your knowledge.

Your application should include:

  • CV
  • cover letter
  • transcripts
