Being a Staff Machine Learning Engineer
As a Staff ML Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of our machine learning initiatives. You’ll lead the design and deployment of advanced computer vision models for embedded automotive systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive innovation from concept to production.
Here’s what your normal day looks like:
- Lead the design and development of scalable, production-grade ML models for in-cabin sensing applications.
- Drive technical strategy and architecture for ML systems, ensuring alignment with product goals and automotive standards.
- Mentor and guide a team of ML engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and data teams to define features, data pipelines, and deployment strategies.
- Optimize models for embedded automotive hardware using techniques like quantization, pruning, and distillation.
- Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating and integrating the latest ML research and tools.
- Contribute to internal best practices, code reviews, and documentation to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
To succeed in this role, we would love you to have:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in machine learning, with a strong focus on computer vision and deep learning.
- Proven experience leading ML projects from research to deployment.
- Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Deep understanding of modern CV architectures (CNNs, Transformers, etc.) and ML fundamentals.
- Experience with embedded systems and model optimization for edge devices.
- Familiarity with MLOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
It’s a plus if you have:
- Experience in the automotive industry or with in-cabin sensing technologies.
- Knowledge of automotive standards like A-SPICE or ISO 26262.
- Contributions to open-source ML projects or published research.
